Webster's definition of Autonomy: 1. The condition or quality of being autonomous; esp., the power or right of self-government. 2. A self-governing community or group. 3. Self-determination.

To be Autonomous is to embody these characteristics. The goal in choosing that name, was to give someone an instant impression of where the music was coming from. We do not play to the lowest common denominator, it tends to be a very low standard. Here, success or failure is completely in your own hands, and the goal is as high as you are willing to reach. Oh, and it's a lot better than "Aster," another name we thought of. But nobody wants ass in their name.

Having originally formed 3000 miles away on the east coast, this popular Seattle based band has traveled a long way to get where they are. They have performed in or with bands like Vertical Horizon, Cracker, Hootie and the Blowfish, Edwin McCain, Wide Spread Panic, Rehab, and many more, honing their skills over years of touring while performing all over the US. 

“Eclectic Modern Rock” is the title that fits Autonomous best, but their performance is better experienced than explained. You can definitely expect a strong groove, a lot of energy, and lyrics that mean something.  Some compare their sound to: The Police, Talking Heads, Peter Gabriel, Crowded House, etc. Autonomous is touring the US and working on material for their second studio release.
